Krishna Janmashtami also is known as Janmashtami is an annual Hindu festival the celebrates the birth of Lord Krishna, who is considered to be the 8th avatar of Vishnu. Krishna Janmashtami is celebrated as one of the most auspiciou festivals celebrated by Hindu community mainly in India and Nepal. It is a highly significant festival among Hindus as Lord Shree Krishna was born on this day as the incarnation of Lord Vishnu. It is believed that Lord Krishna was born five thousand years ago in Dwapar Yuga in the City of Mathura at midnight. The Krishna Janmashtami is a popular and much-awaited festival and is celebrated across India in diverse names such as Gokulashtami, Saatam Aatham, Sri Krishnashtami, Srikrishna Jayanti and Ashtami Rohini.

Importance of Janmashtami

Worshippers keep fast till the midnight on this day. After midnight, the Krishna’s birth wish is sent everywhere with the holy sounds of conches and bells. Krishna’s Aarti is sung and holy food is distributed.
